I am blown away by the complexity and depth. I don’t enjoy when people try to make complex things more complex, you have made something complex into something reachable. Ingestible. To many. That is wisdom when it is integrated.

What a gift your writing and gaze is.

yessss!! the courtroom metaphor is so unique because it shows how people start analyzing and questioning every good thing before they even allow themselves to enjoy it. i also really loved the contrast between fear, memory, pain, happiness, and wisdom all having their own role.

the ending was probably my favorite part. really amazing piece!

Ajmal Roshan's avatar

Thank you Alana, this is exactly what I was hoping people would catch. I didn’t want the courtroom to feel like a clever decoration, I wanted it to feel like the inner legal system people build after being hurt. Something where every good thing has to prove it is not secretly dangerous because of the previous pain in us!

I absolutely lovedddd thisss!! The metaphors are top notch. Like every conversation with each emotion... how Fear speaks from the Judge's seat... Your meta commentary and narrative. All of it is so relatable. REAL. I am beyond words how to express how seen i felt after reading this.

The part about Memory that it "edits with confidence" is so well written that I laughed out...

You have a real gift for writing.

The whole courtroom and it's extended metaphor was executed perfectly.

Looking forward to reading more personified emotions!

Aria, your comment might have just put my happiness on trial because I genuinely don’t know how to receive it properly haha.

Thank you so much. The Memory line was one of those moments where I felt like I caught the thought before it escaped. Memory is terrifying because it doesn’t have to invent much. It just arranges the evidence in the cruelest possible order and somehow calls that truth.

I’m really happy the courtroom worked for you because I wanted each emotion to feel less like a symbol and more like someone we’ve all had to sit across from at some point.

More personified emotions are definitely coming. I’m also working out this new legal system inside my head :)

still in character I see... or perhaps that's how we function at this point.

Agreed Ega! Better to push boulder and have hope, then to cowardly let the world kill you!

This is awesome brother, every line resonates with me.

Just like Alaska said, I am blown away by the depth. Highly relatable.

Thank you for sharing this philosophical piece.

Thank you, Chi. I always appreciate your feedback, and your kind words mean more than you think.

I’m grateful to have someone like you in my audience, and I hope my next piece carries forward that same depth for you.

The Waiting Room Where Everyone Else Gets Called First

Your writing genuinely never fails to leave me in awe. The court metaphor is brilliant and just makes the idea come across so much better. The topic itself is amazing and so well executed. This really puts things into perspective and is something that I felt I truly needed to read. I’ve actually been wanting to write about something similar about how hard it is to trust others and let people in and it’s just been something I think of a lot.

It’s so amazing to see it written like this. Your writing is so inspiring.

Ajmal Roshan's avatar

Hey Nina <3. I try to write this way because I want big ideas to feel digestible for everyone. I think that’s the best way to notice universal truths, by making them simple enough to recognize but deep enough to stay with you. Also, you words truly mean a lot! I think you should absolutely write about trust and letting people in, especially if it’s something you keep returning to in your own mind.

Sometimes the things we can’t stop thinking about are the exact things we’re supposed to write through. And I’d genuinely love to read your take on it, because trust is one of those topics everyone understands emotionally, even if they explain it differently. Another universal truth you can tap into, not only will it be valuable, but it is worth writing on :)

Thank you again 😊

It’s truly mesmerizing how you write such complex ideas into something easy to read. Yes! Trust is so different for everyone. I will be writing about it when the idea becomes whole. Sometimes I get an idea that isn’t fully formed, and I like to wait for it to form instead of rushing it.

I await your next article!

What once protected us becomes an identity. Hard -- and crucial -- to distinguish between a warning and an echo.

The mind calls it wisdom. The body experiences it as distance from life.

Ajmal Roshan's avatar

Are you saying the body calls it traumatic while the mind calls it wisdom? Or am I losing you haha? i understand the rest, just this point: The body experiences it as distance from life.

Alaska Skye's avatar

This. Is. Incredible……

Ajmal Roshan's avatar

Wow, I want to make a personal note that this is the type of comment that truly motivates someone to create more of whatever they are doing. Thank you deeply Alaska. My genuine passion is to make complex things easy to understand but also creative enough to penetrate and be memorable. Thank you for your kind words and grateful to connect with you 🤍.

So happy to be here and able to celebrate your work. There’s something about art when it’s not just seen but absorbed. And I really feel your soul and the gentle hand you use to create intricacy in simplicity.

It’s a gift. And it is not simple to learn to do. 👏

Ajmal Roshan's avatar

I hope I carried that same spirit forward in my next piece, and that it makes you just as proud, if not more.

It’s still philosophical creative writing, but you’ll have to discover the theme yourself :)

So wise and well written. A courtroom we all have in our bias and subjective minds.

Ajmal Roshan's avatar

Thank you June 🙏. My goal was for it to be extremely smooth from beginning to end. And exactly as you said, this scenario plays out in our minds constantly, I wanted to be the one to record it :)

I loved it so much! I really like the metaphors you used and the idea that happiness doesn't have to be shared forever to bring joy. We often get hung up on past experiences and subconsciously think that every time the outcome is the same. But this is very wrong. There is no need to demand proof from happiness that it will stay with us forever. The only thing that is required of us is to let it be as it is and enjoy it.

«But the fact that happiness cannot promise permanence does not make it false»💔💔💔

Ajmal Roshan's avatar

Exactly!!!! Just like all the best things in this world are temporary, just like we are temporary. They are meant to be experienced and let go with grace and love.

Jasla💌's avatar

Honestly, we all need to thank your brother for that advice! This is an absolute masterpiece✨. The whole courtroom metaphor perfectly captures how hard it is to just accept joy sometimes.

Seriously incredible work ajmal!
