Who Am I?
My name is Ajmal Roshan, and you can call me Ajmal or AJ.
I’m a philosopher, educator, lover, and servant trying to pay closer attention to what it means to be alive.
I know that sounds broad, but it’s not.
I write about the depth of human feeling, sensitivity to life, emotional intelligence, and the art of staying deeply present to the once-in-a-lifetime experience of being here.
Sometimes that comes through quick, witty, and clever Notes. Other times, it comes through carefully crafted stories built around relatable metaphors and universal themes.
With my stories, I want to create short pieces that feel complete. The kind that keep your eyes on the screen, pull you deeper with every line, and leave you at the end thinking, “Wow. That reached parts of me I did not know were listening.”
If you found me through a Note, welcome. My Notes let me teach without lecturing, which is something I hope to keep practicing with humility. But I hope you read at least one story too. They’ll help you understand why I still choose to write when there’s already so much written.
The goal is always the same: to bring us closer to our emotional lives, not so we become less thoughtful, but so we become exponentially more human, more raw, and more ourselves than we were before the world taught us to dim the light.
You’re safe to bring it back to full brightness here.
This space has grown into a loving corner of the internet, filled with readers I’m deeply grateful for.
Alongside my writing, I host two weekly initiatives: The Writer’s Table and The Wednesday Tabletalk, where readers and writers gather to share work, answer questions, and make this place feel even more alive.
I’m looking forward to having you here, and I mean that.
Settle in wherever you are. If you made it this far, message me. It would make my day :)
Welcome to The Water Tribe 🙏🤍
